The invention provides a bridge expansion joint device and an installation method thereof, the bridge expansion joint device comprises a first comb plate and a second comb plate, installation notches are reserved in the first beam end and the second beam end, vertically-arranged reserved holes are formed in the positions, below the installation notches, of a beam body, and connecting pieces are installed in the reserved holes; the lower ends of the connecting pieces are fixed in the corresponding reserved holes, the first comb plate and the second comb plate are installed at the upper ends of the corresponding connecting pieces, a leveling layer is poured at the bottom of each installation notch, and the first comb plate and the second comb plate are arranged above the corresponding leveling layers. According to the bridge expansion joint device, a bracket does not need to be prefabricated, an anti-skid bolt assembly is adopted for fixing, a bridge structure manufacturer does not need to reserve a large notch, before the expansion joint is installed, anti-skid bolts are installed at reserved hole positions, proper heights and positions are adjusted, first pouring is conducted, and after the bolts are fixed, a rotating shaft support and the expansion joint are installed; the concrete pouring area is small, the maintenance period is short, and rapid installation can be achieved.
