The invention discloses a waterproof construction method for a building external wall. The waterproof construction method comprises the following steps of pretreating a base layer; performing roughening treatment on the concrete base layer, and scraping or filling the concave-convex obvious parts of the concrete base layer; plugging and tamping through-wall bolt holes and external wall scaffold holes; plastering the base layer; plastering polymer cement waterproof mortar on the external wall in a layered mode, and constructing a heat preservation layer; installing and fixing insulation boards in a bonding and anchoring combined mode; constructing insulation anti-crack mortar surface layers on the surfaces of the insulation boards; and tiling the external wall or coating a facing layer. According to the waterproof construction method, the base layer is fully pretreated, various holes are plugged and compacted, then waterproof treatment is conducted on the external wall by plastering multiple layers of waterproof mortar, and a first waterproof layer is formed; and secondary waterproof construction is conducted on the surfaces of the insulation boards, and third waterproof construction is carried out by tiling the external wall or coating the facing layer, so that multi-layer waterproof construction of the external wall can be realized, and the waterproof effect of the building external is ensured.
