A drain device for connection to a sanitary ware includes a drain valve housing having a first passage section with an inlet opening, having a second passage section with an outlet opening, and having a valve seat positioned between the inlet opening and the outlet opening; a valve body movable from a closed position to an open position from the valve seat; an actuating unit through which the valve body is movable; and an outflow tube into which the second channel section opens through its outlet opening; wherein the first central axis extends centrally through the first channel section and the outflow tube central axis extends centrally through the outflow tube; wherein the outflow tube central axis intersects the first central axis, or wherein the outflow tube central axis is at a distance from the first central axis, which distance corresponds at most to half the diameter of the outlet opening; the drainage device further comprises an overflow unit, and the overflow unit is provided with a first connecting pipe, an overflow pipe and a second connecting pipe.
