The invention relates to a vertical lifting type barrage. The vertical lifting type barrage comprises a base arranged in a river levee and a gate assembly arranged in the base; a water storage cavity is formed in the base; a water inlet is formed in the top of the water storage cavity; the bottom of the gate assembly is arranged in the water storage cavity; the overall density of the gate assembly is smaller than the density of water; when the water level in the river levee is smaller than the height of the base, the top of the gate assembly is lower than the upper end face of the base; when the water level in the river levee is rapidly increased to be larger than the height of the base, water flow rapidly enters the water storage cavity through the water inlet and fills the water storage cavity, the gate assembly ascends under the action of water buoyancy, and the water flow is prevented from passing through the barrage; and the barrage does not need to be watched by specially-assigned persons, electric power or oil pressure equipment does not need to be used, the use cost is low, and reliability is high. The vertical lifting type barrage is particularly suitable for some areas such as deep mountains and old forests where people are few and traffic is inconvenient.
