The invention relates to the technical field of road traffic, and particularly discloses an intersection and a passing method thereof. The intersection of a longitudinal road and a transverse road is provided with a roundabout and a safety island, and an overpass bridge and an underpass tunnel are arranged on the safety island; and the underpass tunnel passes through the lower side of the overpass bridge. The passing method comprises a straight-going mode and a rounding alternating mode, and when a straight-going signal is released, straight-going motor vehicles on the two roads are released at the same time; non-motor vehicles and pedestrians enter and exit the safety island through a second pedestrian crossing; the pedestrians and non-motor vehicles in the safety island can leave the safety island to the destination; when a rounding signal is released, left-turning motor vehicles and the non-motor vehicles realize left turning through rounding; the straight-going vehicles can also choose to go straight through rounding; and the first pedestrian crossing and the second non-motor vehicle lane pass, and pedestrians and non-motor vehicles waiting for release can be transferred in the safety island through the first pedestrian crossing and the second non-motor vehicle lane. The intersection has the advantages of being low in construction cost, small in occupied area, high in traffic capacity and the like.
