The invention relates to the technical field of thermal insulation material production, in particular to a preparation process of a thermal insulation material. The thermal insulation material comprises a mixed layer made of chromium powder, calcium carbonate powder, glass fiber powder, kaolin, asbestos powder and aluminum silicate fiber powder, and an inner core wrapped by the mixed layer and made of a thermal insulation board. The preparation process for preparing the thermal insulation material comprises the following steps: step 1, the chromium powder, the calcium carbonate powder, the glass fiber powder, the kaolin, the asbestos powder and the aluminum silicate fiber powder into clear water are added according to a ratio for mixing to obtain a mixture; 2, the front face and the back face of the heat preservation plate are machined, a plurality of grooves are machined, and an inner core is obtained; 3, the inner core is placed in a preparation device, the mixture is poured into the preparation device, the inner core is wrapped with the mixture, and the thermal insulation material is obtained; and 4, the thermal insulation material is dried for use; and a hard and wear-resistant thermal insulation material can be processed.
