The waste slag field comprises a surface soil stripping layer, a waste slag body and an ecological restoration layer from bottom to top, wherein the ecological restoration layer is constructed into a strip-shaped step platform in the contour line direction and comprises a cured residue soil layer, geotechnical cloth, a stripped surface soil reconstruction layer and a potential waste slag restoration layer from bottom to top. The ecological protection waste slag field can be constructed in the stone mountainous area with complex natural conditions, the top surface is designed to be the strip-shaped step platform constructed in the contour line direction, so that scouring and damage of heavy rainfall to the waste slag field are greatly improved, the stability of top greening vegetation is effectively guaranteed, the stripped surface soil reconstruction layer and the potential waste slag restoration layer can provide basic conditions for shrub and grass growth, and additionally, stable and sustainable plant communities are established, so that self circulation of energy and substances of the waste slag field is achieved.
