The soil retaining device comprises a box body, wherein the left side of the box body is fixedly connected with a sleeve; a supporting device is arranged on the inner wall of the sleeve; a cleaning device is arranged inside the box body; a baffle plate is arranged at the right side of the cleaning device; the inner wall of the left side of the box body is fixedly connected with a baffle block; the inner wall of the baffle block is in sliding connection with a pull rod; a water absorbing block is arranged on the surface of the pull rod; the left end of the pull rod is fixedly connected with a chuck; and a plurality of water inlets are formed in the surface of the sleeve. According to the soil retaining device disclosed by the invention, the water absorbing block inside the sleeve can absorb water in soil through the water inlets, and the baffle plate is driven to move left and right in a reciprocating mode by beating of sea waves at the right side of the device; and the baffle plate drives the pull rod to move through the cleaning device, and extrudes the water absorbing block which absorbs water to extrude water out, so that water enters the box body, and therefore, water and soil loss can be prevented.
