The invention discloses a hydraulic lime-based mortar for wall painting which comprises a premix and water, and the premix comprises the following raw materials: a volcanic ash reactant, a salt-resistant hydraulic binder, natural sand, lightweight aggregate and an additive. After the premix is mixed with water, plastic thixotropic consistency mortar can be formed, and the mortar can be troweled on a body wall surface of a building by using a spatula. The mortar disclosed by the invention has extremely low organic matter volatility and almost no humidity shrinkage, so that the risk that the mortar forms cracks is greatly reduced. Besides, the mortar disclosed by the invention can resist various corrosive chemical and physical phenomena, and can be coated on a body wall of a building, so that the body wall of the building is well protected.
