The invention relates to the field of civil engineering, in particular to a deep canyon protection structure and a deep canyon protection structure construction method. The deep canyon protection structure comprises a plurality of masonry layers which are sequentially arranged in a stacked mode. Each masonry layer extends in the extending direction of the deep canyon, the multiple masonry layers stretch across the deep canyon and are connected with the two sides of the deep canyon, and each masonry layer is in an arch shape. According to the deep canyon protection structure, the situation that a large barrier lake is formed after the river valley is blocked by rockfall and landslide on the two banks of the canyon can be avoided, and therefore flood disasters caused by embankment burst of the barrier lake can be avoided.
