The invention discloses a wall material capable of removing formaldehyde. The wall material comprises a wall plastering mortar layer and a functional layer, wherein the surface of the wall plastering mortar layer is coated with the functional layer; the wall plastering mortar layer comprises the following components in parts by weight: 80-100 parts of ordinary Portland cement, 100-150 parts of sand, 5-10 parts of a porous EVA material, 1-2 parts of a retarder, 2-3 parts of cellulose ether, 1-2 parts of a water reducing agent and 70-80 parts of water; the functional layer is prepared from the following components in parts by weight: 30 to 50 parts of acrylic emulsion, 15 to 20 parts of nano titanium oxide/biological ceramic/diatomite composite filler, 0.5 to 1 part of drier, 1 to 2 parts of coalescing agent, 1 to 2 parts of defoaming agent and 15 to 20 parts of water. The invention also provides a preparation method of the wall material. The wall material provided by the invention not only has good bonding performance with a matrix, but also can effectively remove formaldehyde, has good mechanical performance, has certain thermal insulation performance, and is simple in preparation method.
