The invention relates to a PVA-PNIPAM/MxWO3 composite hydrogel with bidirectional rapid photo-thermal response and a preparation method thereof, belonging to the field of new material synthesis technology and building energy saving. The PVA-PNIPAM/MxWO3 composite hydrogel with bidirectional rapid photo-thermal response provided by the invention is characterized in that the composite hydrogel is composed of pure or doped MxWO3 particles with photo-response and a PVA-PNIPAM hydrogel with thermal response, the MxWO3 particles are uniformly dispersed in the PVA-PNIPAM hydrogel, and the PVA-PNIPAM hydrogel is provided with an interpenetrating type network formed by PVA and PNIPAM. The PVA-PNIPAM/MxWO3 composite hydrogel disclosed by the invention has the functions of intelligent dimming, temperature regulation and temperature control with bidirectional rapid photo-thermal response.
