The invention relates to a preparation method of a compact hexagonal boron nitride ceramic material, which comprises the following steps: (1) mixing hexagonal boron nitride powder, a Y source, a Si source and beta-Si3N4 whiskers to obtain raw material powder; the Si source is tetraethyl orthosilicate, or SiO2 powder and tetraethyl orthosilicate; the Y source is yttrium nitrate hexahydrate or yttrium nitrate hexahydrate and Y2O3 powder; and (2) carrying out presintering and hot pressed sintering on the raw material powder to obtain the compact hexagonal boron nitride ceramic material.
