The invention discloses a preparation process of a polycarboxylic acid water reducer, which is characterized by comprising the following steps: step 1, adding alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ether, benzoyl peroxide, tertiary carbonate, N-acyl sarcosine, polyethylene glycol diacrylate, an ammonium persulfate aqueous solution, a hydrogen peroxide solution, kaolin and water into a reaction kettle, then starting to stir, and adding water into the reaction kettle; in the stirring process, the temperature of the reaction kettle is raised to 58-68 DEG C, the stirring speed is 500 r/min, and a mixed solution is obtained; 2, the mixed liquid forms fog drops through a powder making device, the fog drops are sprayed into a drying chamber, the air inlet temperature of the drying chamber is 160-220 DEG C, the air outlet temperature of the drying chamber is 80-130 DEG C, the air outlet speed of the drying chamber is 8-12 m < 3 >/min, and powder is obtained; and 3, adding the powder into a cyclone separator to separate the hot drying medium from the powder, cooling at normal temperature, and sieving to obtain the polycarboxylate superplasticizer.
