The invention discloses a use method of an existing anchor cable detection device, and belongs to the field of engineering quality detection. An existing anchor cable is arranged on the pedestal. The using method comprises the following steps that at least one exposed steel strand of the existing anchor cable extends into at least one first anchor hole of the anchor plate; wherein the anchor plate is further connected with at least one external steel strand; at least one first fixing piece is inserted into at least one first anchor hole, so that the exposed steel strand is fixedly connected with the anchor plate; all the external steel strands penetrate through the supporting piece, so that the external steel strands are provided with exposed parts far away from the pedestal; and the supporting piece is supported on the pedestal, and force is applied to the exposed part through the jack so that the exposed part can move in the direction away from the pedestal relative to the supporting piece till the external steel strand is clamped by the tool anchor on the end face of the end, away from the pedestal, of the jack. According to the invention, the length of the exposed steel strand is increased through the anchor plate, so that the existing anchor cable can be conveniently detected.
