A module (2) and associated system and method for implementing a protective barrier (1) for preventing liquid runoff and/or overflow, the module comprising: a blocking member adapted to block a liquid body in a front area (A) located on a front side of the protective barrier; one or more sensors (6) adapted to acquire at least one piece of information about the module or about the liquid body; a safety valve (10) adapted to be actuated from a closed state to an open state depending on information acquired and provided by the sensor.
