The invention discloses a tamping device for road and bridge engineering construction. The tamping device comprises a sliding structure, a connecting structure, an adjusting structure and a tamping block. The sliding structure comprises a sliding plate and a connecting column, a side hole is formed in the side face of the top end of the sliding plate, the connecting column penetrates through the side hole, a mounting box is fixedly connected to the top end of the sliding plate, a connecting shaft is arranged in the mounting box, the two ends of the connecting shaft are rotationally connected with the inner side wall of the mounting box, and the surface of the connecting shaft is sleeved with a gear. A tooth groove is formed in the surface of the connecting column, and the gear is connected with the tooth groove in a meshed mode. Sliding rails are formed in the bottom ends of the connecting columns, balls are embedded in the bottom ends of the side holes, and the top ends of the balls are clamped into the sliding rails. The device can be used in cooperation with different construction devices, the gear can be driven to rotate through work of the motor, the sliding plate can be driven to slide along the connecting column under meshing of the gear and the tooth groove, so that the position between the ramming block and the devices is adjusted, and the device is flexible to install and high in universality.
