The invention discloses a machine core and a barrier gate. The machine core comprises a mounting plate, a swing piece rotationally mounted on the mounting plate and used for being connected with the brake bar, a rising and falling driving mechanism used for driving the swing piece to rotate, a first rising limiting piece arranged on the mounting plate, a falling limiting piece arranged on the mounting plate and a buffering elastic piece arranged on the swing piece. When the swing piece drives the brake bar to rotate to the highest point, the buffering elastic piece abuts against the first rising limiting piece, and when the swing piece drives the brake bar to rotate to the lowest point, the buffering elastic piece abuts against the falling limiting piece. Buffering can be achieved when the machine core drives the brake bar to rise and fall through cooperation of the buffering elastic piece, the first rising limiting piece and the falling limiting piece. The mounting positions of the first rising limiting piece and the falling limiting piece are located within the boundary range of the mounting plate, and the buffer elastic piece is located on the swing piece, so that the structure of the machine core is compact. The mode of arranging the tension spring needs to provide enough stretching space for the tension spring, which is not beneficial to miniaturization of the movement structure.
