The subject matter of this document may be embodied, inter alia, in a fluid actuator comprising a housing defining a first chamber comprising a first cavity and a first open end, a first piston assembly comprising a tubular first piston defining a second chamber comprising a second cavity and a second open end, and a second piston assembly comprising a tubular second piston defining a second cavity and a second open end, a tubular first piston is disposed within the first housing for reciprocating movement in the first chamber through the first open end, where the first seal, the first chamber and the first piston define a first pressure chamber, and a second piston assembly includes a second piston disposed in the first piston assembly, where the second piston is disposed in the first housing for reciprocating movement in the first chamber through the first open end. And a second piston for reciprocating movement in the second chamber through the second open end, where the second seal, the second chamber, and the second piston define a second pressure chamber, and a first portion of the second piston contacts the first end effector.
