The invention relates to the technical field of asphalt construction, in particular to a paving construction method of an asphalt overlay. The method comprises the following steps: 1) paving a first mixture on the surface of the asphalt pavement, wherein the first mixture is obtained by mixing waterproof modified asphalt and filler; the waterproof modified asphalt is prepared from the following components in parts by weight: 60 to 95 parts of matrix asphalt, 20 to 30 parts of SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene) rubber, 10 to 20 parts of glass fiber felt, 10 to 20 parts of hydroxypropyl acrylate, 5 to 10 parts of maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene and 5 to 10 parts of EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate), (2) rolling the first mixture to obtain a waterproof layer with the thickness of 0.5-1 cm; 3) paving a second mixture on the surface of the waterproof layer, wherein the second mixture is obtained by mixing matrix asphalt and fine aggregate; and (4) rolling the second mixture to obtain the wearing layer with the thickness of 1.5-2cm.
