A lock generally locks the master gear relative to the housing. A driver selectively rotates the sun gear and the bracket so as to transmit rotational power to the roller shutter door shaft when fixed to the bracket. The release device selectively releases the lock to allow free rotation of the main gear and the carrier, thereby allowing the roller shutter door to be lowered under the effect of its own weight.
