The water permeable brick is prepared by firing the following raw materials in percentage by weight: 50%-100% of coal gangue, 0-50% (not 0) of clay, 100%-150% of expanded polyphenyl granules, 0-5% (not 0) of lime powder, 5%-10% of sodium dodecyl sulfate and 5%-10% of polyacrylamide. Wherein the proportion of the coal gangue, the clay and the lime powder is mass percent, and the total mass of the three raw materials is 100 percent; the sodium dodecyl sulfate and the polyacrylamide account for the mass percent of the mixture of the coal gangue, the clay and the lime powder; the proportion of the expanded polyphenyl granules is the percentage of the total volume of the mixture of the coal gangue, the clay and the lime powder; the water permeable brick prepared by the method disclosed by the invention has more uniform communicating holes and a production process which is more energy-saving and cleaner on the premise of giving consideration to both water permeability and strength.
