Block transfer device and improved clamping assembly for use therewith
A block transfer device for transferring a block between an upstream clamp and a downstream clamp of a block delivery system. The apparatus comprises: a frame pivotally mounted to a support; a clamping assembly is mounted to the frame and is linearly extendable relative to the frame and includes a pair of gripper jaws for clamping opposite sides of the block. The device receives the block in a general position in the gripper jaw; the block is rotated to a drop position and released, allowing the block to self-correct the reference onto orthogonal first and second reference surfaces. A device that reclamps the block after the block falls by applying a clamping force to opposite sides of the block to align the block to the third reference surface to correct the position of the block relative to the clamping assembly to the reference; and presenting a block clamped at the position of the correction reference for transfer to a downstream jig.

A block transfer device for transferring a block between an upstream clamp and a downstream clamp of a block delivery system.
