The invention relates to a roof system for flat roofs or pitched roofs of buildings with thermal and/or acoustic insulation, consisting of structural supports, support plates, optional steam control layers, waterproof membranes and at least one insulation element, the at least one insulation element is a bonded mineral fiber product made of mineral fibers, preferably rock wool fibers, and a cured aqueous binder, where the cured aqueous binder prior to curing comprises one or more components (i) in the form of oxidized lignin, one or more components (ii) in the form of cross-linking agents, one or more components (iii) in the form of plasticizers, and one or more components (iii) in the form of plasticizers. And wherein the insulation element has a bulk density of between 70 kg/m3 and 250 kg/m3.
