The invention provides a grouting type expansion anchor rod and an anchoring method, and belongs to the field of slope supporting and foundation pit supporting, the grouting type expansion anchor rod comprises a hollow grouting rod body, an external expansion device, a pressure applying rod, an annular sliding block and an extension structure, one end of the hollow grouting rod body is coaxially connected with a slurry blocking plug, and a plurality of slurry discharging holes are formed in the side portion of the hollow grouting rod body; the multiple external expansion devices are installed on the outer side of the hollow grouting rod body and cover the slurry discharging holes correspondingly. The external expansion device comprises steel arches, rotating hinges and inhaul cables, the rotating hinges are connected with the free ends of the adjacent steel arches, one ends of the inhaul cables are welded to the outer side of the hollow grouting rod body, and the other ends of the inhaul cables are connected with the steel arches through the rotating hinges; one end of the pressure rod is connected with the rotating block through the through hole of the slurry plug, and the other end of the pressure rod penetrates through the hollow grouting rod body to be connected with the fixing disc into a whole. The anchor rod is high in anchoring strength, expansion and extension of the anchor rod can be achieved while grouting is conducted, the anchor rod is made to be tightly attached to hole wall surrounding rock, and the anchor rod is prevented from falling off in the using process.
