The invention relates to an automatic adjusting method and system for the opening height of an electric tail door of a vehicle. The automatic adjusting method comprises the steps that when the electric tail door of the vehicle is in an openable state, whether the opening time of the electric tail door reaches first preset opening time or not is detected; when it is detected that the opening time of the electric tail gate reaches the first preset opening time, the rear camera and the rear radar collect images and the distance between a user and the electric tail gate respectively; a second predetermined opening time of the power tailgate is determined based on the image and a distance between the user and the power tailgate, and a power tailgate opening stop signal is determined based on the second predetermined opening time. According to the automatic adjusting method and system for the opening height of the electric tail door of the vehicle, image and distance data are collected through a rear camera and a rear radar which are arranged on the vehicle, so that the approximate height of a user is recognized, and the stopping position of the electric tail door is controlled based on the approximate height of the user; and the convenience for users with different heights to use the electric tail door is improved.
