The lock assembly comprises a lock housing (2), an operating mode insert (1), a lock cylinder (3) comprising a lock cylinder base (4) and a bore (30) adapted to receive the operating mode insert (2), a latch (5) connected to the lock cylinder base (4) and operable between a locked configuration and an unlocked configuration, and a resilient member (6) biasing the latch (5) towards the locked configuration. The operating mode insert (1) is configured to form a releasable connection with the lock cylinder base (4), and the releasable connection is accessible at the lock cylinder base (4) to release the connection and remove the operating mode insert (1) from the lock cylinder (3).
