The invention discloses a large-tonnage multi-layer umbrella-shaped anchor rod for rock mass reinforcement and an application method. The large-tonnage multi-layer umbrella-shaped anchor rod comprises a plurality of umbrella-shaped anchor heads, a connecting anchor rod, a restraining rod and an inflation system. The umbrella-shaped anchor head comprises a circular-truncated-cone-shaped sliding block, an anchor piece, a horizontal guide block and an expansion limiting ring. The umbrella-shaped anchor heads are connected through anchor rods to form a multi-layer structure. The circular-truncated-cone-shaped sliding block and the anchor piece are mutually attached and extruded inside and slide along the surface of the circular-truncated-cone-shaped sliding block; the horizontal guide block restrains the anchor piece to only expand in the radial direction. During installation, after the large-tonnage multi-layer umbrella-shaped anchor rod in a closed state extends into a preset position in an anchor hole, inflation is carried out to enable the expansion limiting ring to be expanded and then abut against the horizontal guide block, then the anchor rod is tensioned, the circular-truncated-cone-shaped sliding block and the anchor piece are driven to move in a staggered mode, and the anchor piece is extruded to be opened in the radial direction and extruded with the hole wall till the expected anchoring force is achieved. The multiple layers of umbrella-shaped anchor rods are synchronously tensioned through an expansion limiting method, large-tonnage anchoring force can be obtained in time, installation is convenient and fast, and stability is good.
