Foot-operable door opener
The foot-operable door opener can be operated without using hands or electrical assistance. Entry of the cycle begins by depression of the pedal. The force drives the pedal 1/4 ring to engage the soft wheel to open the door. The pedal is rigidly connected to a crank arm that enters a one-way crankshaft hub to rotate the wheel. Downward pressure from the pedal pivots a ratchet hinge connected to a cradle spring loaded wheel assembly to maintain a constant pressure against the ground. A gearbox or pumps of the pedal rotate the wheel two or more 360-degree rotations, opening the door, passing the intruder until the foot pedal is released. This action releases the ratchet hinge mechanism, rotating the spring-assisted wheel assembly to its original upward position, releasing the wheel from the ground, thereby closing the door.
