The invention discloses a floating cofferdam suitable for a muddy bottom bed and an installation method thereof.The floating cofferdam comprises a floating body, a geotechnical cloth cofferdam body, a mud filling pipe and anchoring parts, the floating body is installed at the top of the inner side of the geotechnical cloth cofferdam body, and the mud filling pipe internally and externally penetrates through the top of the geotechnical cloth cofferdam body to be used for filling the geotechnical cloth cofferdam body with mud; one end of the anchoring piece is connected with the seabed bottom surface, and the other end is connected with the near-top position of the geotechnical cloth weir body. The floating cofferdam is simple in overall structure, convenient to install and suitable for a sludge bottom bed.
