The invention relates to a construction method of a foundation adjacent to a deep cliff, which comprises the following steps of: performing first local island construction at the position adjacent to the deep cliff in a dry season, and arranging a shortcut leading to the bottom of the deep cliff; a cofferdam is installed in the cofferdam construction area, so that the cofferdam, the deep cliff wall and the original riverbed surface jointly form a water blocking structure; second-time full-range island building construction is conducted between the inner side of the cofferdam and the deep cutting precipice, and a drilling pile working platform is formed; drilling pile construction is conducted on the drilling pile working platform; and carrying out bearing platform construction. The advantage of the near shore is fully utilized, the shortcut is introduced from the bottom of the deep cliff wall in the dry season, the shortcut enters the cofferdam through the shortcut in the later period, overwater construction is changed into pure land construction, and the construction cost is greatly saved; the advantages of work starting in the dry season are fully utilized, the cofferdam installation condition can be met only through local island building, and a working face can be rapidly formed after work starting and entering; the cofferdams and the deep cliff wall jointly form a water blocking structure, and the topographic features of the deep cliff wall are fully utilized.
