The invention relates to the technical field of extension ladders, in particular to an extension ladder with a buffer structure and a using method thereof.The extension ladder comprises a plurality of ladder units, each ladder unit comprises two ladder rods, every two adjacent ladder units are slidably connected in a sleeved mode through the ladder rods, and connecting parts are installed on the upper portions of the two ladder rods; a step is rotatably installed between the two connecting parts, a containing groove is formed in the lower surface of the step, a buffering air bag is installed in the containing groove, through grooves are formed in the two sides of the step, first magnetic blocks are fixedly installed on the upper portions of the through grooves, second magnetic blocks are installed on the lower portions of the through grooves, and an inflation assembly is installed between the containing groove and the through grooves; according to the invention, the first magnetic block and the second magnetic block are arranged, and air is blown into the buffer air bag under the driving of magnetic force, so that the buffer air bag is filled with enough air and can bulge up to form the protection of the lower surface of the ladder at the upper part; and the situation that fingers are pinched when a user places a hand on a step is reduced.
