The invention discloses a method for removing periphytic algae by using sand-containing water flow. The method comprises the following steps: collecting the biomass density of the periphytic algae in a downstream river of a reservoir; when the biomass density is larger than the preset density, the water flow velocity and the water body sand content of the river under various pulse flows are obtained; calculating the washing removal rate of each kind of periphytic algae under all pulse flows; selecting corresponding pulse flow required when the same algae is greater than a preset target removal rate, and counting all pulse flow required to scour and remove the algae to reach the target removal rate; and selecting an optimal value in the counted pulse flow according to the water storage amount in the reservoir, and starting the reservoir to discharge the pulse flow to remove periphytic algae.
