The invention discloses an automatic leveling system and method of a land leveler based on a 2D laser technology in the technical field of land levelers, and aims to solve the problems that a driver needs to adjust the height of a scraper knife according to visual inspection of an existing land leveler, the construction precision and the construction efficiency are affected, and under the working condition that the ground fluctuates greatly, soil under the scraper knife is too much, and the soil loading amount is large. The device comprises a laser transmitter, a controller and a scraper knife, a lifting mechanism is arranged on the scraper knife, a supporting rod is arranged on the scraper knife, a laser receiver is arranged on the supporting rod, the controller is electrically connected with the laser receiver, and the controller is electrically connected with an electric proportional valve and a displayer. The leveling device is suitable for leveling of the land leveler, leveling work is automatically conducted on the height of the scraper knife, the leveling precision is improved, operation is easy, the workload of a driver is reduced, the scraper knife firstly conducts rough leveling work and then conducts fine leveling work, and on the premise that the construction precision is not affected, the situation that the scraper knife falls too much soil and carries too large soil is avoided.
