The manual and automatic integrated switchable rotary actuator comprises a bearing part, an output shaft rotationally installed on the bearing part, a rotary power source fixed to the bearing part, and a transmission assembly connected between the output shaft and the rotary power source and used for transmitting power of the rotary power source to the output shaft. A first planetary gear set is arranged in the transmission assembly, and the pressure applying device controllably drives the friction piece to be in extrusion friction with a first gear ring in the first planetary gear set. The actuator can be controllably switched between a manual mode and an automatic mode, the switching process is stable and smooth, the user experience is improved, meanwhile, the service life of the actuator is prolonged, and the actuator is high in integration level and beneficial to saving space.
