The invention relates to the technical field of bridge construction, in particular to an automatic turnover device and method for a bridge prefabricated pier column in the air. Comprising a lifting arm, a first lifting trolley, a second lifting trolley, a first lifting rod, a second lifting rod and a tensioning structure, the first lifting trolley is used for lifting the upper end of the prefabricated pier column; the second lifting trolley is used for lifting the lower end of the prefabricated pier column; a first turning-over support is connected to the first hanging rod, and a first automatic buckle is arranged on the first turning-over support; a second turning-over support is connected to the second hanging rod, and a second automatic buckle is arranged on the second turning-over support; the tensioning structure is arranged on the second lifting trolley and used for limiting shaking of the second lifting rod, the second turning-over support and the second automatic buckle in the process that the second turning-over support clamps and breaks away from the prefabricated pier column. The turnover device is simple in structure and convenient to operate, and the turnover efficiency of the prefabricated pier column is greatly improved.
