A high-temperature sintering puffing kiln comprises a rotary kiln section (1), a tunnel kiln section (2) and a sintering kiln section (5), the sintering kiln section (5) is arranged at the position, close to the inlet end, of the tunnel kiln section (2), a discharging opening (6) is formed in the top of the sintering kiln section (5) and connected with the outlet end of the rotary kiln section (1), and a combustor (3) is arranged in the space, close to the top, of the sintering kiln section (5) and used for heating puffing materials at high temperature. And a material distribution device is arranged in the sintering kiln section (5) and is used for lifting the kiln car (4) to an area heated by flame of the combustor at high temperature. The production method of the expanded lightweight aggregate comprises the following steps: preheating a material by a rotary kiln, falling into a sintering chamber from a discharge hole of the rotary kiln, and slowly descending along with continuous accumulation of the material on the material distribution device by utilizing the material distribution device, so that the material is always kept in a high-temperature heating area to be heated and expanded. The device has the advantages of more reasonable structural design, short production period, high yield, high quality, high heat utilization efficiency, good economic effect and the like.
