The invention discloses a ceramic hollow microsphere as well as a preparation method and application thereof. The invention provides a preparation method of ceramic hollow microspheres, which comprises the following steps: 1) mixing a silica polymer ceramic precursor solution, ceramic powder and a dispersing agent to obtain slurry; 2) performing spray drying on the slurry to obtain spray-dried particles; and 3) curing, degumming and sintering the spray-dried particles to obtain the ceramic hollow microspheres. The preparation method of the ceramic hollow microspheres has the characteristics of simplicity in slurry preparation, environmental protection, high controllability, low energy consumption in a spray drying process, short curing, glue discharging and sintering time and high process universality, so that continuous, high-efficiency, low-cost and batch preparation of the ceramic hollow microspheres can be realized; and the prepared ceramic hollow microspheres have the advantages of low density, compact shell wall, good mechanical property, excellent heat resistance and water resistance and the like, and are particularly suitable for the fields of aerospace, aviation and navigation.
