The invention discloses an urban sidewalk and a construction method thereof. The urban sidewalk sequentially comprises a sidewalk floor tile layer, a gravel cushion layer, a capillary barrier layer, a coarse-grain-size gravel force transmission layer, a fine-grain-size gravel protection layer and a sodium silicate protection layer from top to bottom, and the sodium silicate protection layer is arranged outside a municipal pipeline. The sidewalk floor tile comprises an upper tile body and a lower tile body, wherein a vertical through hole is formed in the center of the upper tile body; the lower brick body is connected with the upper brick body to form a step-shaped brick body, and the top of the lower brick body is provided with a positioning column matched with the through hole of the upper brick body. In every two adjacent sidewalk floor tiles of the sidewalk floor tile layer, the positioning columns on the lower tile bodies of the sidewalk floor tiles located on the left side are inserted into the through holes in the upper tile bodies of the sidewalk floor tiles located on the right side. During construction, a pilot tunnel is excavated firstly, municipal pipelines are installed in the pilot tunnel, and then the urban sidewalk structures are constructed in sequence. The sidewalk is good in drainage performance, and effective protection of municipal pipelines is achieved.
