The invention belongs to the technical field of roadbed structure construction, and provides a novel road roadbed structure and a construction method thereof. The novel road subgrade structure comprises a subgrade body and a water storage structure, the water storage structure comprises a water storage assembly and a water using mechanism. The water storage assembly comprises a water storage tank and a water outlet pipe, the water using mechanism comprises two groups of water using assemblies; the water utilization assembly comprises a temporary water storage tank, a water culture tank and an elastic assembly; the water outlet pipe communicates with the temporary water storage tank; an accommodating groove is concavely formed in the temporary water storage tank; the water culture tank is arranged in the accommodating tank; the elastic assembly is connected with the water culture tank and the containing tank. At least one first communication port is formed in the side wall of the accommodating groove; at least one second communication port is formed in the side wall of the water culture tank; and the second communication port is arranged below the first communication port. The road subgrade structure can form a road green belt and can realize water storage in the subgrade at the same time, and water in the green belt can be timely and automatically supplemented without human interference. The construction method is simple and easy to operate.
