The invention belongs to the technical field of road materials, provides a drainage asphalt mixture and a preparation method thereof, and solves the problems of poor drainage and low performance of an asphalt pavement. The mixture comprises the following components: modified asphalt, mineral powder, basalt fiber, C9 petroleum resin, terpene resin and skeleton aggregate. By adding the two resins, a network structure can be formed in the asphalt mixture, so that the mechanical property of the mixture is improved; and the basalt fiber plays a role in reinforcing in the mixture. The particle size of the mineral powder is extremely small, the mineral powder can be attached to the surface of an asphalt film when being added into the mixture, water flow is discharged from basalt fibers in an accelerated mode, and the phenomenon of internal water damage is avoided. The invention also provides a preparation method of the drainage asphalt mixture, which comprises the following steps: mixing the basalt fiber and the skeleton aggregate to obtain a dry mixed material; mixing the dry mixing material, the modified asphalt, the C9 petroleum resin and the terpene resin to obtain an aggregate; and mixing the aggregate with mineral powder to obtain the drainage asphalt mixture.
