A door side pillar safety system, apparatus and method for keeping a door open and preferably an automatically closing door open. The system may include a handle unit, a wedge unit slidably associated with the handle unit, and a stopper unit attachable with the handle unit and slidably associated with the wedge unit. The plug unit includes a triangular plug and a shaft including a plurality of locking holes. The wedge-shaped unit includes a button engageable with the locking hole to lock the plug in spaced apart relationship with the wedge-shaped side of the wedge-shaped unit. The plug unit is rotatable to allow insertion into the door side post while the spacing between the plug and the wedge-shaped side is adjustable to clamp the corner of the door frame and the door therebetween. The handle unit may include an electronic device such as a lamp.
