本申请实施例中提供了一种道岔焊轨作业车及其作业方法，在走行平台上设置焊接设备，走行平台横向两侧设置至少两组履带走行装置，在走行平台和履带走行装置之间设置履带伸缩装置，带动履带走行装置相对于走行平台进行横向伸缩运动，履带伸缩装置根据道岔宽度调节两侧履带走行装置之间的横向间距，使焊轨作业车能够骑跨在道岔上走行至焊接位置，作业灵活性好；解决作业设备到达道岔预铺场地焊接位置流程复杂、前期工作繁多的问题，提高焊接效率和焊接质量，减少施工人员数量，降低人工劳动强度；当焊轨作业车运行至道岔处等路况复杂路段时，可采用履带走行装置进行线上或线下走行，以适应不同工况。
