The invention relates to the technical field of building materials, in particular to a sandstone-like ceramic tile and a preparation method thereof. The sandstone-like ceramic tile sequentially comprises a green body layer, a cover glaze layer and a sandstone particle layer from bottom to top, and pattern textures are arranged on the cover glaze layer; the sandstone particle layer is prepared from the following raw materials in percentage by weight: 25-35% of a high-concentration suspending agent, 20-30% of sandstone particles and 85-95% of water, and the surface of the green body layer is provided with the overglaze layer and the sandstone particle layer, so that the sandstone-imitating ceramic tile has the texture of natural sandstone and meets the use requirements of the sandstone-imitating ceramic tile; direct exploitation and use of natural sandstone are avoided, and the purposes of energy conservation and environmental protection are achieved.
