The invention discloses a construction method for assisting sinking of an open caisson by adopting a steel sheet pile, which comprises the following steps: after the construction of the open caisson is completed, excavating an annular mud pit on the periphery of the open caisson, enabling the annular mud pit to extend inwards to the outer wall of the open caisson, and preparing mud in the annular mud pit; injecting water into the open caisson to soften a soil body in the open caisson; steel sheet piles are vertically and downwards driven into the annular mud pit, so that the bottom elevation of the steel sheet piles is lower than the blade foot bottom elevation of the open caisson; pulling out the steel sheet pile after the steel sheet pile is driven in place, and enabling the slurry to flow into a pile pit formed by pulling out the steel sheet pile; the steps are repeated, so that the open caisson sinks to the designed position; and after the open caisson sinks to the designed position, accumulated water in the open caisson is pumped out, the annular mud pit and the pile pit are backfilled, and the construction efficiency is improved through the construction method.
