The telescopic screed control method comprises the following steps: acquiring image information of a road edge in the operation process of the paver; performing identification and correction processing on the image information of the road edge, and outputting pixel coordinates of the road edge; and controlling a telescopic screed of the paver to perform corresponding telescopic motion according to the pixel coordinates of the road edge. According to the method, the real-time following of the road edge position and the self-adaptive adjustment control of the telescopic screed plate are realized in a visual image acquisition mode, the method is not easily interfered by a field environment, complicated calibration operation is not needed, and related acquisition equipment is simple in structure, high in reliability, wide in road edge type identification range and higher in universality; and meanwhile, the response speed and the accuracy of adjustment operation can be effectively improved, the defects of paving operation edge gaps and the like caused by irregular operation areas or deviation of the running path of the paver are overcome, and the construction efficiency and the construction quality can be improved.
