The invention discloses a 3D building printer and a control method thereof.The 3D building printer comprises a base, a lifting device, a cross beam device, a displacement device, a printing spray head device, a concrete feeding device, a balancing weight and a control system, the lifting device, the cross beam device and the displacement device are connected with the control system, and the lifting device is connected to the upper side of the base; the cross beam device is rotatably connected to the upper side of the lifting device, the balancing weight is connected to a short arm of the cross beam device, the displacement device is connected to a long arm of the cross beam device, and the printing spray head device is slidably connected to the cross beam device through the displacement device. The concrete feeding device is connected to the input end of the printing spray head device, and the output end of the printing spray head device is vertically arranged downwards. According to the design, printing precision is high, the size is small, and structural reinforcements such as steel bars can be conveniently added during building printing.
