Hydraulic system and method for pressure control
A hydraulic system includes a poppet valve control valve having an inlet working port, a function working port, a control chamber, and a poppet valve disposed between the inlet working port and the control chamber. The poppet valve is movable between an open position and a closed position. The hydraulic system further comprises a pilot control valve. Pressure associated with the function work port is supplied to a first side of the pilot control valve and pilot source pressure is supplied to a second side of the pilot control valve. When the pressure in the functional piece working port reaches a set point pressure, the pressure associated with the functional piece working port forces the pilot control valve to reach a position that increases flow restriction between the control chamber and the functional piece working port. The poppet moves in a direction toward the closed position and limits the pressure in the functional member working port to a setpoint pressure.
