Method for joining ceramic parts to form single ceramic part
A method for forming a single ceramic component is provided. The method may include positioning a braze reactant layer in a contact region between a first dense ceramic component and a second dense ceramic component; positioning a packaging material around at least a portion of the first dense ceramic component or the second dense ceramic component; positioning at least one permeate source in fluid communication with the braze reactant layer; and thereafter, heating the at least one permeate source, the packaging material, the first dense ceramic part and the second dense ceramic part to a brazing temperature equal to or higher than the melting point of the at least one phase of the permeate composition such that the at least one phase of the permeate composition melts, and flowing into the braze reactant layer and reacting with the ceramic precursor compound therein to form the ceramic material.
