The invention relates to a boom segment comprising an upper band (33), a lower band (34) and two side portions (35, 36) connecting the upper band (33) and the lower band (34). The boom segment (30) comprises an articulated connection (62) defining a pivot axis (74) for a pivotal connection between the boom segment (21) and an adjacent structure (20), where: the pivot axis (74) lies below a plane (63) in which the lower band (34) lies; the transition piece (64) is located between the lower band portion (34) and the hinged connection portion (62), and a connection portion (65) between the transition piece (64) and the lower band portion (34) is spaced from an adjacent end (61) of the lower band portion (34); the transition piece (64) is surrounded between a first reinforcement portion (40) and a second reinforcement portion (70) laterally adjoining the transition piece (64); the reinforcing portions (40, 70) each have a lower edge (69) extending from the hinged connection (62) to the lower band (34); the lower edge (69) and the plane (63) where the lower band-shaped part (34) is located define an angle (68), and the angle is smaller than an angle (67) defined by the transition piece (64) and the plane (63) where the lower band-shaped part (34) is located.
